Nephi: the main approach
The most common gateway coming from the Wasatch Front. Nephi sits on I-15 and has fuel, groceries, restaurants, and lodging. From Nephi it is roughly 28 miles west to Little Sahara. If you are driving down from Salt Lake City, this is the last easy full-service stop.
Eureka: the closest town
The nearest town to the recreation area and the mailing address for the Visitor Center. Small and historic, a former mining town on US 6. Useful for a quick stop, but do not count on it for a full resupply.
Delta: the southern approach
About 38 miles from Little Sahara and the closest larger town on the Sevier Desert side, with gas stations, grocery stores, restaurants, and lodging. The sensible base if you are coming from the south or west.
Lynndyl and Jericho Junction
Lynndyl is a small community on the southern approach. Jericho Junction is the landmark that matters for navigation: the Little Sahara entrance road is four miles west of it.
Fuel strategy
Dune riding burns fuel fast, and there is none for sale inside the recreation area. Fill both the tow vehicle and your machines' cans before you turn off the highway, and carry more than a single day's worth if you are staying the weekend.
Spend locally
These are small towns carrying the load of a very busy recreation area. Buy fuel, meals, ice, and supplies in Nephi, Eureka, and Delta while confirming rules and conditions with BLM and the state.
